Music is alive and well in our area, huh? Rich, the bassist for Crazy Julie and CRS sat in with The Jessica Horn Band and covered the bottom over the weekend at a bike rally Fri. and Sat. in Davis OK at the Washita Hideaway. Furious George from OKC opened and Jessica was headliner for the weekend. Bikes, Bands, Babes and Beer. What a weekend!

I'm actually responding to the information Dan Devine had at the top of the songwriter info page... I am a songwriter who did live in Nashville, but now living in Branson. What the producer told you is true. It's really hard to get your songs to the right people. I was stupid and didn't want to sign with a publisher. Thought I'd do better getting songs to the music producers and managers. And, that is true but hard to do. I was able to a few times but never really had confidence that they actually listened. I did get a couple independent artist cuts and one who had been signed by a major on a developmental deal, but she didn't get signed for real. Oh well!!!
In Nashville, there is a strong songwriter community that I really miss. There are a lot of open writer's nights which are nice but taking part in a writer's circle, which is by invitation, is even better. People really listen. I got good response on my songs and had I stayed there long enough, I feel it would have happened but I had to move for personal reasons. I felt like it was useless here but now I'm rethinking that. There's got to be a way. I am again writing and am hopeful and positive and ready to explore all options.

Was he in the band The Jabs? Doug Perdue?
they were put together from the remnants of the Mighty John Waynes, which disintegrated over the summer of 2002, and Dirty Little Secrets, which disbanded around the same time. Drummer Andy Fark was added to an already strong lineup of Doug Perdue on guitar, Ben Schimmel on bass and Jade Gordley on vocals.

That is way cool that the real Doug Perdue replyed here! I am the local Nevada Missouri area based Dangerous Doug Harper, and I kinda wondered if there were any other musicians out there using that moniker, and so I assumed that you were until now. I have found three other Dangerous Doug's one is a musician, and one a karate fighter, and one a DJ. I use to use the name Dangerous Doug when I was a DJ, it was inspired by the LWP wrestling promotion, but I no longer work at a Radio Station so I will not be affecting his work. Each of these Dangerous Doug's all have unique last names. Though there are a much larger number of Dangerous Daves out there. Hello All,
Local Ear is hosting it’s fist annual Music Fair, on August 30, 2008. We have a few spaces left that are available for musicians from the area to promote their music. Though the type of promotion that we are using is not a band performance, it is worthy. Meet and greet type of promotions are fearlessly used by major labels, and now buy us. So what you as a bands or artists will be involved in is a basic merchandise table set up, you can bring acoustic guitars, but you will be primarily shaking hands, and meeting potential new fans of your music. As an exhibitor you will also be able to sell merchandise, tell stories about your experiences and song, and make an impact on attendance at your live shows in the area, by generating new fans at this event.

"The Tree in the Front Yard" lyrics by yours truly Dan Divine won an Honerable Mention in the lyric contest of the May/June issue of American Songwriter, a magazine out of Nashville bi-monthly that caters to songwriters. Should be just hitting the shelves. Alan Jackson is on the cover, they invented new tiny font toward the back for my name, but Moundville, MO made it in there. YEA. I printed the proper name of the song here but it has also been refered to as the damn tree hanging song. I won't mention names.
